With MSX-BASIC, you can do so many things ! Time to discover again the listings published in the Dutch magazine MCM … Here’s Escape, created in 1985 by Robert Carsouw and published in number 4 … A platform game ! I’ve slightly improved the listing for support of the keyboard and the joysticks.

The game is provided in DSK and ROM versions, with the source code and the explanations. Besides, I’ve included the more easy version suggested in the magazine. Note that this game can work only on European and Brazilian MSX1 computers. The using of the CODE key to jump makes it incompatible on Japanese, Korean and Russian machines. Don’t try it on MSX2 or higher (conflict with language machine routines) !

I have looked EVERYWHERE for this game in the past few years. Today I decided to try again and I found it after a couple of minutes on this website! This is sooo cool! This was the last game I knew I still wanted. The only thing is that in my memory the enemies were walking but they’re actually standing still.
If no any enemy moves, then you are running the game on a not appropriate MSX machine : it must be an European or Brazilian MSX1. On these machines, the enemies move, if they are on the same level as the hero or on the directly higher/lower level.
