In 1986, Ocean has published this Spectrum conversion on tape format. After having removed the screen of the Spanish Erbe distributor and added the intro screen and the ‘universal poke’ to the DSK version, I’ve used the excellent DSK2ROM tool of Vincent van Dam to get a ROM version that works on any MSX1 or MSX2, with exception of the Arabic and Korean MSX2. The online tool “MSX Screen Conversor” of Rafael Jannone has been very useful ! Only the 1995 cracked version is almost universal, but without the intro screen !

My Ocean cassette didn´t have hi-res loading screen. I think it had SCREEN 0 or 1 simple loading notice, white text against blue background.
This game was an excellent conversion, playability wise, music was nicely done and mario looked really excellent!!! I just hated the way they left ingame gorilla monochrome, when they could had easily gave it at least one more colour, intro´s multicolour gorilla look very good! Monochrome small lady and small fireballs also looked stupid, otherwise I like this conversion!!
This isn’t a conversion but a remake. The Coleco version is much better and the NES version even better.

Ehmmm … Let’s say that the Spectrum version is a remake and that the MSX version is a conversion of the Spectrum version

There are many Spectrum conversion on MSX. This version looks like a conversion but it’s more than that. Unfortunately it hasn’t been improved enough.
