Gorf is a shoot’m up published in 1983 by Coleco and adapted from the Bally Midway arcade game. GDX has converted this game for the MSX system, by basing his work on the Mission emulator, with SCC sound by default and improved support for keyboard and joysticks.
The recommended mapper is Konami SCC, with ASCII 16 compatibility.
Gorf (66)In 2011 and 2012, GDX has converted many Coleco games for the MSX system, but he had forgotten some differences between both systems. After having removed from MSX games and demos a dangerous bug that could kill the PSG on some old MSX1 computers, he has made the same for his Coleco conversions, taking also the opportunity to even more optimize these games !
The bugfixed versions are available, you need to visit the links below. You’ll notice that the Burger Time and Donkey Kong files include now 2 versions of the game, read carefully the text files to get more info !
UPDATE 01/11/12 : GDX has improved the files by fixing the bug that could damage the PSG on some old machines.
23/10/11 – Everybody knows Zaxxon, the shoot-’em-up published in 1985 by Pony Canyon. It’s actually a reworked version of the game. The same year, Electric Software has published the original version only on tape. This version with 2 players mode and selection of the difficulty level was working only on MSX1. With help from Jipe, GDX has made a miracle : CAS, ROM and DSK versions that work on any MSX generation or almost : don’t try the CAS version on a MSXturboR !
