UPDATE 25/08/11 : The games and the results of the Passion MSX2 Contests are available on the MSXdev’ website !
In a few days, as explained in a long off topic discussion about Yathzee (!), the results of the Passion MSX2 Contest 2nd Edition will be announced, not here on MSX blue, but in the “Other” section of the MSXdev’ website. Why ? Simply because there will be no any next edition of this contest, conceived as a brother of the MSXdev’ contest to promote the development of new MSX2 games.
The 2 editions of the MSX2 contest have only given 4 nices games (2 games per edition), although the prizes were more interesting for the 2nd edition. I had hoped that some coders should be ready to present a finished game after 2 years, but no any miracle has happened. Continuing the experience with always the same 2 Dutch teams does not have any sense. That’s why, after one year of hesitation, I’ve decided that this experience is finished.
Of course, I thank very especially the coders who have contributed positively to this contest. Probably other projects were too ambitious or will require for example 5 years to become full reality. Another reason is the fact that MSX2 coding seems less easy than MSX1 coding and it seems to explain the success of the MSXdev’ contest. Other explanations are possible and I will not try to make here a complete list. It’s time for me to turn completely the page of the Passion MSX heritage and to develop further MSX blue, for which I have so many projects !
