Buster Block

by mars2000 — Categories: Games — Tags: , , Leave a comment

Here’s Buster Block, an action game, published in 1985 by Kuma on tape format and inspired by 2 BBC Micro games, Pingu and Rubble Trouble. You must kill many monsters in a giant maze of 400 rooms, this by pushing blocks to crush them before they make the same against you !

As you can see it, the keyboard commands are strange, but you can redefine them with the K key. I recommend the cursors for the moves and the spacebar for pushing blocks.

The game is provided in DSK, CAS and ROM versions (mapper : Konami SCC). The universal poke has been added, so it will work on any MSX generation (with exception for the MSX2 Korean machines). You need to press on CTRL when booting to run the CAS and DSK versions.

Here’s Spooks And Ladders, a platform game, published in 1985 by Kuma on tape format. It’s a kind of mix of Lode Runner with Pac-Man !

As you can see it, the keyboard commands are strange. Here how to proceed in blueMSX to get a better playability :
- go to the Keyboard Config sub-directory
- make a copy of the blueMSX Default.config file (security measure : what follows will modify the original file)
- go in the keyboard part of the Input Editor
- map the K key of the MSX to the up cursor
- map the M key of the MSX to the down cursor
- map the Z key of the MSX to the left cursor
- map the X key of the MSX to the right cursor
- map the D key of the MSX to the LeftAlt key
- map the F key of the MSX to the LeftCtrl key
- click on Ok to quit the Input Editor
- keep a copy of the modified blueMSX Default.config file on another location on your harddisk (for a future new use)

The game is provided in DSK, CAS and ROM versions (mapper : Konami SCC). The universal poke has been added, so it will work on any MSX generation (with exception for the MSX2 Korean machines). You need to press on CTRL when booting to run the CAS and DSK versions.

Here’s Galaxia, a shooter, published in 1985 by Kuma on tape format. It includes 10 zones with specific enemies for each zone.

As you can see it, the keyboard commands are strange, but you can redefine them with the K key. I recommend the cursors for the moves and the spacebar for shooting.

The game is provided in DSK, CAS and ROM versions (mapper : Konami SCC). The universal poke has been added, so it will work on any MSX generation (with exception for the MSX2 Korean machines). You need to press on CTRL when booting to run the CAS and DSK versions.
