Konami Game Master 2 (RC-755)

This cartridge allows to cheat with most MSX1 and MSX2 Konami games.
It must be inserted in slot 1 (the game itself will be inserted in slot 2).
If you want to use only the SRAM feature, you can also insert it in slot 2 (the game itself will be inserted in slot 1).
Contra / Grysor and Hai no Majutsushi / Mahjong 2 can't be started from the Game Master 2.
The best choice with both games is insertion of the Game Master 2 in slot 2.
For some games, only a part of the Game Master 2 options are really available.

General menu

Intro on a Japanese MSX2 or higher
(different intro on a Japanese MSX1)
Menu on an European machine
(no title on a Japanese machine)

First option : GAME
If you want to play the game without any cheat, select this option.
You can also access directly to the game by pressing on ESC, GRAPH or the spacebar in the boot sequence of the emulated MSX.
De-activating the Game Master 2 is also possible : press on SHIFT in the boot sequence.
GRAPH and the spacebar work also without a game in slot 2. In this case, you go to MSX-BASIC or MSX-DOS.

Second option : MODIFY

The Game Master 2 displays the number of the cartridge with the game.

Cheating options allow you to modify the number of the beginning stage and to modify the player number (what means the number of lifes !)

Last option starts the game with the modifications that you have made.

Third option : SELF (also accessible without a game in slot 2)

First option of this menu allows you to load the saved data of a screen.
To convert these data into a bloadable format :
* set the cursor before END in the menu
* press at the same time on the following keys : Left CTRL - SHIFT - Spacebar
You'll get a new file with the extension .VRM.
This file can be used in a MSX-BASIC program with the following instructions
- for a MSX1 game :
COLOR 15,0,0: SCREEN 2,2: BLOAD "filename.VRM",S: A$=INPUT$(1)
- for a MSX2 game :
COLOR 15,0,0: SCREEN 5,2: BLOAD "
filename.VRM",S: COLOR=RESTORE: A$=INPUT$(1)

Options 3 and 4 give access to little games (Tennis - Hockey) and to a Biorythm program.
SRAM Disk Utility

For 10 Konami games, data can be saved in the SRAM of the Game Master 2.
Before the SRAM can be used, it must be formatted by using the third option of this menu.
Other options give a list of the SRAM files and allow to delete them.
Don't save too many files on this SRAM, because its size is only 8 Kb.
You can find on this page utilities created by Sean Young to save the SRAM to disk and vice versa :
